Patchwork Basics Workshop
Quilting for absolute beginners

Saturday 8th September 2018
from 10.30am to 2.30pm

We will be using an old favourite quilt design

 

Absolute Basics, part #1- one session

This is the prefect way to get involved in quilting or to re-discover it!

This is a beginners' class involving basic machine and/or hand constructed quilt techniques. All basic tools, techniques & piecing will be covered. You will start making a small patchwork quilt & you would have acquired enough knowledge to continue finishing a quilt top at home.

If you wish to learn how to turn the quilt top to a finished patchwork quilt,
please also book for part #2.

Absolute Basics - Finishing Your Quilt

Absolute Basics, part #2 - one session

This is a follow-on class to the Absolute Patchwork Basics.  The emphases is on learning to layer a quilt top, wadding + backing, and then quilt & bind it.
You will learn how to make straight & bias binding and how to attach it to a quilt. During this finishing class you will make a small one fabric piece quilt - the aim is to give the quilter enough knowledge and confidence to finish their "real" patchwork quilt project at home. 

Please note: we will not cover tools nor piecing, as these steps are taught inuring part 1.

 for 5/session during workshops if required.

 However, we would always recommend that you bring your own familiar sewing machine if at all possible.
